Siiri Schütz’s concert career had a dramatic start in 1991, when she stood in for Claudio Arrau in an important solo recital at the Philharmonic Hall in Cologne and, a short while later, for Murray Perahia at the Tonhalle in Düsseldorf. In the same year she made her debut with the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Claudio Abbado. This concert was recorded and later used in the CAMI- Video ‘The First Year” produced by Peter Gelb. In 1994 year she was reinvited to perform with the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra under Claudio Abbado.

Since then, engagements have taken her to perform at prestigious festivals like the “Berliner Festwochen”, the “Ruhr-Klavierfestival”, the “Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival”, the “Schwetzinger Mozart Festival”, the Bayreuther Festspiele” and the Bard Music Festival in Annandale, NY. 2007 she will give her debut at the Lucerne Piano Festival.

She played as soloist among others with the Tonhalle Orchestra Zurich, the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra, the Berlin Symphony Orchestra, the Bern Symphony Orchestra, MDR Orchestra Leipzig and the Soloists Européenes Luxembourg under the batton of Claus Peter Flor, Peter Schneider, Toshiyuki Kamioka and Neil Varon among others. She gave recitals at the Berlin Philharmonic Hall, the “Alte Oper” in Frankfurt, the Herkulessaal in Munich, London, Rom, Turin, Zurich, as well as in Washington for the “World Bank Congress”.

She also was invited to give recitals for Germany’s President Richard von Weizsäcker and recently for President Köhler at Castle Bellevue in Berlin. For the Chamber music series of the Bard Festival she gave her New York Recital Debut in 2002.

Renowned as a fine chamber musician Ms. Schütz undertook intensive concert tours through Europe with musicians from the Berlin and Munich Philharmonic Orchestra and has played among others with violinist David Garrett, Alina Pogostkin, the Jacques Thibaud Trio, Georg Faust and Christoph Poppen.

Born in Berlin, Siiri Schütz has studied with Annerose Schmidt at the Berlin Academy of Music, with Leon Fleisher at the Peabody Conservatory of Music and Yohved Kaplinsky at the Julliard School New York. In spring 2004 she received her artist’s diploma from the Academy of Music in Cologne where she studied with Pavel Gililov. Privately and in master classes she has worked with Alfred Brendel, Murray Perahia, Bruno Canino and Louis Lortie.

Siiri Schütz won the Gold Medal at the International Piano Competition in Aussig in 1989 and the “Jütting Award” in Stendal 1996. She has received fellowship support from the “Jürgen Ponto Stiftung” Dresdner Bank, the “German Exchange Service” the “Deutsche Grammophon Gesellschaft”, the Yehudi Menuhin Foundation and the Keyboard Trust London.

Ms. Schütz is currently recording for the Ars Musici label. Her debut CD for this label is released in March 2006.

During the upcoming season she will give her debut at the Lucerne Festival, the Anatoly International Piano Festival, perform with the Shenzhen Symphony Orchestra China and play a recital at the Berlin Philharmonic Hall among others.
